An NYE Check-In

Hey all. We’re closing in on 2026 here on the East Coast as I write this, and on the one hand, I’m a bit disappointed in myself I don’t have a finished piece yet to share with you. On the other, I’m just relieved I have the capacity to open the word processor and write anything at all. It’s been a doozy of a year, sadly for pretty much all the wrong reasons. I’ll get into it once I’ve written something fuller than just a quick update paragraph. Suffice to say, I’ve sort of laid low all year and kept more to myself than ever before as a means of getting through the tough times. I’m currently on a pretty intensive social media detox that I think might become permanent, which is odd to contemplate as a terminally online millennial. But even if updates are sparse, I’m still here to provide them and still looking forward to finally having some more positive happenings and reflections to share.

The 2025 wrap-up will be here soon. Hopefully there’s even more writing in my future. I know I started this year strong in that regard, but you’ll soon understand how that was derailed. Thanks for being a part of everything thus far. I hope that warmth and love find their ways into your lives in 2026. The world needs more of both.
